If I had eyes es el primer corte del último CD Sleep Through The Static de Jack Johnson. Seguramente lo hayan escuchado en varias radios.

En la presentación del CD en radio Aspen (fm 102.3), el cantante habló de la influencia de su familia en sus letras. Esta canción es un ejemplo.

Siempre jugaba con su hijo diciendole que si seguía comiendo tanta mantequilla le iba a salir una cola, una cola con un ojo en la punta. Luego, el niño empezó a seguir el juego dándose vuelta y diciendo "papá, hoy te ves muy bien" y se retiraba.

Así fue como una cosa llevó a la otra y fue creada "If I had eyes".

Vale la pena mencionar otros temas como We Do, We Don't, inspirado en los Spaghetti Western y Really, Really que según Johnson tiene "un sonido completamente diferente" que refleja de forma más concreta el carácter del álbum: "Este disco es definitivamente algo diferente del resto. Hay más teclados y más Wurlitzer". Estas canciones formarán parte del nuevo disco si consiguen pasar su censura casera. Hablando de cómo sus hijos participan en su proceso creativo Johnson comenta "mi hijo, dependiendo de si quiere jugar con el Lego en vez de escucharme tocar mis temas me dice: 'No me gusta nada esa canción papá'".
